Abstract : A method of predicting ultimate stress, ultimate strain, and initial tangent modulus for a series of polymeric propellant binder compositions from data for two or three compositions of the same binder has been derived. The method involves fitting the mechanical properties to straight-line functions of the crosslink density. A computer program has been written to perform the curve fit. The value of the method is that it gives insight as to which compositions of a particular binder system can be expected to give desirable mechanical properties without extensive laboratory screening.
