Abstract : The possible weak points in the current design and the possible advantages inusing glass filament wound motor components in the Advanced LAW propulsion hardware were investigated. Case reproducibility, dynamic burst effects and case dilation during hydro and dynamic testing were determined. Good reproducibility was obtained with the 2.5 inch glass filament wound case inside a case design concept. The dynamic results indicated that some type of concept. The dynamic results indicated that some type of liner in the aft dome region enhances the brust characteristics and causes the failure mode to change. These preliminary data indicate that the motor case, as designed, is adequate for the intended use. (KF-PL)
