Abstract : Automated planning techniques can be of importance to efficient scheduling and deployment of aircraft in the tactical airlift environment. The context selected in the study -- the scheduling process of the Airlift Control Center (ALCC) -- represents a complex and dynamic current-day environment. A dynamic programming algorithm was developed which permits missions to be scheduled efficiently against a wide range of predetermined criteria. Real-time computer application will allow the user to input his insights and judgment, thus influencing the algorithmic process and creating a man/machine planning system. (Author)
