Abstract : The amplitude of the differential temperature between a single target and the surrounding background varies from 2 to 40 degrees K. Measurements were made to determine what variations could be expected under controlled conditions. Results of these measurements show that, for a single series of measurements, an error value of 2 percent is to be expected, and that the differential temperature varies from date to date and from night to day.
