Abstract : Telagen HT-5000, Lot 316AM-14, was received and submitted to preliminary characterization. The prepolymer was high in iron content and was returned to the vendor for purification. This parent prepolymer has been fractionated and the difunctional content raised from 71.5% to 86%. Further upgrading is in progress. The isolation of trifunctional PAPI being considered as a possible crosslinker for binder and propellant studies was investigated but hampered by the high boiling point of the material. The trifunctional PAPI can be distinguished readily from the difunctional material by NMR and DSC. The analysis of still bottoms from the distillation indicated that the distillation was not carried far enough to isolate the trifunctional PAPI. Trimethylolpropane was too insoluble to serve as a crosslinker. Binder studies were made with the prepolymer cured with HDI and CTI. Propellant studies showed that the Agerite White used as an antioxidant does not seriously interfere with the propellant cure. (Author)
