Abstract : A new test equipment was demonstrated that is capable of measuring on a real time basis the amplitude, phase, and frequency deviations that occur as a radar waveform propagates through the various networks of a radar. This instrument can thus be used as a means of determining how well each individual network or combinations of networks within the radar are performing their specific functions. A second feature of this instrument is its ability to modulate a sample of the radar waveform with amplitude, phase, frequency, and time deviations similar to those imposed by the radar networks, the target and the environment. Because of this feature it becomes possible to consider the possibility of using a standard target waveform for use as a calibration source for aligning and diagnosis of malfunctions in the radar networks.
