Abstract : An Integrated Engineering Service Test of the Flare, Surface, Parachute, XM183 (Battlefield Illumination System) was conducted by the US Army Tropic Test Center from 27 February 1969 to 2 March 1970. The purpose of this test was to determine the suitability of the XM183 flare for US Army use after prolonged periods of exposure in the humid tropic environment under open and covered open-sided storage conditions.
