Abstract : The biaxial stress fracture strengths of ATJ-S graphite and RAD 6300 carbon phenolic at constant strain rates to 10/sec are reported from tests on tubular specimens. A literature survey of anisotropic yield and fracture criteria is presented to better interpret the experimental data. Some tests on 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, 1100-0 aluminum and plexiglass aimed primarily at verifying the experimental techniques are reported. Calculation of buckling loads due to compressive axial or circumferential tube stresses has been made and compared to the fracture loads obtained. (Author)
