Abstract : This final technical report describes the development and testing of a radiation hardened, high speed, high density, high reliability, NDRO, plated wire memory designed primarily for missile (ICBM) applications. System concepts derived from an analysis of the requirements are presented and tradeoffs leading to the selected design approach are reviewed. Power calculations, reliability analysis, and a cost projection are included. Basic organization of the full scale memory of 16K words, 32 bits, utilizes two plated wires per bit in a balanced sense/digit organization incorporating two stacks of 1024 words, 256 bits each. A scaled-down model of 2K words organized as 1024 words of 64 bits each, closely simulating the full system, was fabricated and extensively tested. Mechanical and circuit design details are presented together with worst case analyses and projection to full scale performance.
