Abstract : This report assesses the vulnerability of the Detroit water supply system to damage from a hypothetical nuclear weapon attack. Probable damage to facilities and casualties to personnel are considered, as well as the possible loss of support from interrelated systems. Based on the damage and casualty predictions, the postattack capabilities are evaluated, and these capabilities are discussed in relation to post attack requirements. Although the study did not include recovery analysis, some lapse of time and the accomplishment of remedial measures had to be considered to allow a meaningful discussion of capability. (Author)
