Abstract : The results of horizontal-path imaging experiments, both with laser and with 'white light' illumination, are presented. These experiments were conducted at the Cloudcroft Electro-Optical Station, New Mexico, during the period June-November 1969. A target located at the Alamo Lookout Field Site, 13.3 km from the Electro-Optical Station, was illuminated with a non-Q-switched ruby laser and with flashbulbs. Photographs were recorded simultaneously with the Cloudcroft 1.22-m telescope and with a 35-mm camera located near the target. The resolution of the images obtained with the telescope was generally about 2 to 3 arc sec or worse. There was no significant difference between the resolution of the images recorded with laset illumination and that of those recorded with 'white light' illumination. (Author)
