Abstract : The program consisted of a study to establish powder requirements and processing procedures needed to produce AF95 powder metallurgy disk components having more consistent mechanical properties than conventional forgings at costs competitive with conventional methods. The study was based upon the concept of controlling carbon content as well as oxygen as the means for achieving these objectives. The study was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 - Determination of Powder Requirements and Phase 2 - Powder Scale-Up and Evaluation Study. (Author)
