Abstract : The report describes applications of microwave holography to the analysis of radomes. The results are experimental and theoretical. Visible displays of microwave fringe patterns were made and analyzed to measure radome boresight error; in addition, visible reconstructions were made of active regions of frequency independent antennas. The wave aberration concept of optics was extended to microwave effects by radomes. Performance of radomes was computed and compared with experimental data. It was found that wavefront construction separated some of the several scattered fields excited by a plane wave incident on a radome; the radome formed holograms without an explicit reference beam, common in holography. Visible images of reflecting parts of radomes were made by optical and microwave reconstruction. Holography was applied to study sidelobes of antennas in radomes. (Author)
