Abstract : The report summarizes the progress of a program to develop an efficient high-power antenna matching network capable of high speed electronic tuning and suitable for manpack or airborne application in the 30 to 76 MHz frequency range. Included is progress during the past quarter and a summary of progress since the program began in 1969. Significant results of the experimental study effort which directly influenced the final design of a 10-watt and a 100-watt network are reviewed and measured performance data are given. Subjects discussed include the application and evaluation of suitable network element devices and material characteristics, network tuning requirements and tuning procedure, the design and measured characteristics of a low-power, orthogonal-mode, matching network and of a high-power, parallel-mode, matching network, and the expected size and operating characteristics of a 10-watt (low power), parallel-mode matching network. The appendix gives a summary description of the theory of operation of the detector circuits used in conjunction with the high and low-power networks. (Author)
