Abstract : An experimental program was undertaken to determine the behavior of glass reinforced polyester resin pads when subjected to static aircraft wheel loads. Two, four, and six pounds per square foot reinforced polyester resin surfacings were constructed over various soil strengths ranging from a California Bearing Ratio of 5 to 20. Laboratory flexural, tensile, and shear tests were conducted on the various fiberglass reinforced polyester resin surfacing weights at varying temperatures, resin percentages, and resin types. Static wheel loads of the F-104, F-4C, C-7A, and C- 47 were applied to pavement systems. Strain and deflection data were recorded. (Author, modified-PL)
