Abstract : As a result of a critical accident at NAD, McAlester, Oklahoma, tests were conducted with obsolete 20 millimeter ammunition furnished from rounds remaining in storage. Tests included bullet impact, drop and chemical analysis for copper azide formation. The results of all tests were negative in establishing any undue sensitivity of the ammunition. Recommendations are made for further tests to help in the preparation of disposal plans for millions of rounds waiting demilling procedures. (Author)
