Abstract : To aid the Electronics Technology and Devices Laboratory's technical support of the AN/PSN-4(XE-1)(V)2 military potential test at Fort Benning, Georgia, as requested by the Project Manager, Navigation/Control Systems, the performance of this position locator and its time difference to Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinate converter was observed at 15 well-known geographic locations on the Fort Benning military reservation. The Easting UTM coordinate standard deviations were considerably greater than the Northing UTM coordinate standard deviations at most locations. A distinct correlation existed between the B-slave time difference (TDB) standard deviations and the Easting UTM coordinate standard deviations. It also appears that the locations of Control Sites SS 38, SS 53, and PS 5 were accurate to only 60 meters. (Author)
