Abstract : A survey has been made of potential Army applications of fluidics and anticipated advances in the fluidic technology. This survey includes inputs from industry, universities, and government. Nearly one hundred possible applications were identified in the government portion of the survey; the industrial survey identified a like number. Twelve of the government-identified systems were studied in some detail, and of these twelve, only one system was determined to be not feasible by 1990. That system was, however, found to be infeasible using any technology. A technological forecast predicts that most fluidic performance will continue to improve through 1990, and a brief limits study suggests that even the predicted 1990 performance values are well short of the ultimate or limiting values.
