Abstract : New tools and revised procedures are developed for the overhaul of the Aqua-Lung Demand Regulator and are compared in the manner of a time and motion study with the old (standard) tools and procedures as set forth in NavShips 394-0059. The prototype tool-case for the standard tool kit is evaluated and reported as excessive in weight and size and insufficiently splash proof. The evaluation and time-and-motion study lead to the conclusion that the revised tools and associated procedures are preferable to the standard tools, being fewer in number, lighter and more versatile. A proposed revision to the maintenance section of NavShips 394-0059 is included as an appendix. (Author)
