Abstract : Flow visualization photographs are presented of the lee-side flow boundary-layer separation and vortex sheet formation on a tangent ogive cylinder body (3-caliber nose, 7-caliber afterbody) for angles of attack up to 26 deg at Mach number 2 and Reynolds numbers, based on body length of 20 in., of 5 and 10 million. Vapor screen photographs showing the formation and growth of a symmetric pair of steady vortices along the body are accompanied by corresponding oil-flow and schlieren photographs. Photographic techniques used are described. (Author)
