Abstract : The significance of this research and development to the Air Force is that it was demonstrated that compact, hybrid integrated, solid-state amplifiers using active diodes can be built with multi-gigahertz bandwidth at microwave frequencies well above the upper limit of bipolar transistors. This type of wideband solid-state microwave amplifier is expected to find wide usage in Air Force applications such as wideband ELINT receivers, deceptive ECM systems, wideband jammers, etc.
