Abstract : Litharge may experience noticeable and drastic alterations in its reaction with silicon depending on the presence, extent and nature of dopant species in either or both the litharge and the silicon. Reactivity differences were measured as enthalpy of the following reaction PbO + Si yields SiO + Pb which reaction is confirmed by X-ray diffraction of product species. (Author)
