Abstract : An instrumentation system composed of a transmitter, receiver, and interconnecting fiber opticc light guides to be used in performing HERO tests is described herein. The function of the transmitter is to amplify four thermocouple generated signals and code them for transmission via a fiber optic light guide to a remotely located receiver. Decoding of the transmitter signal is performed in the receiver to recover the four original thermocouple signals. The system is discussed on a functional basis, with typical input/output waveforms.
