Abstract : Design tension, compression and shear strength, and average stiffness as well as strength of bolted and brazed joints, and thermal properties of the 0/plus or minus 45/ 90 family of boron/aluminum laminates were generated. These allowables, together with available computer programs for detail and joint analysis, and structural optimization, were used in the design of various wing components. Detailed design, analysis and test programs of elemental, subcomponent and demonstra-tion component test specimens were conducted to verify the design approach, manufacturing feasibility and structural integrity of the structural integrity of the selected wing design. The results of these studies, including failure and analyses, are summarized and pertinent conclusions are presented for the various areas of composite technology. (Author, modified-PL)
