Abstract : This study was made to identify and quantify the internal losses that occur in the primary flow nozzles of thrust augmenting ejectors. Fifteen individually fabricated slot nozzles were designed to have different internal geometries. Tests were conducted with some thirteen geometric variations for each nozzle, and the parameters investigated, Mach number, effective area, Reynolds number, slot length/slot width, and inlet area/slot area, are related to the thrust efficiency. Also included in this study are data relating to the flow field of a slot nozzle. All data taken were from jets exhausting into a quiescent atmosphere. It is believed that this study will help improve the performance of the ejector through the development of a more efficient nozzle by optimizing the internal nozzle design.
