Abstract : Studies were conducted to define the creep behavior of yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) at temperatures to 2000 degrees C under conditions of stress, temperature, and environment that are encountered in storage heaters used in blow down wind tunnels. Compression creep tests were performed as a function of yttria content (in the range 10.2 to 16.5 weight percent Y2O3), density, and grain size on specimens with various impurity concentrations and porosity distributions.
