Abstract : An implicit finite difference method is presented for the numerical solution of the steady laminar two-dimensional hypersonic boundary layer equations at chemical nonequilibrium. The strong nonlinearity of the energy equation and of the continuity equations due to the influence of chemical reactions requires a combination of the Newton iteration method and the method of finite differences.
