Abstract : This article is a short version of a study investigating American's status as Number One Nation in rankings of power and influence among all the world's nations. Factors determining international rankings are explored, as well as major attributes in which the United States stands first. Domestic and foreign perceptions of America's status are surveyed. World trends are appraised that may impact on American primacy, and implications are suggested for the future of American primacy. (Author)
