Abstract : Approximately 3,000 combat-ready soldiers were surveyed to obtain information regarding soldiers' understanding of, and attitude toward, the Code of Conduct. The questionnaire dealt with (a) behavior estimates of soldiers regarding particular situations (e.g., escape from a POW camp, POW resistance to enemy questioning), (b) soldiers' attitude toward the Code of Conduct, and (c) the soldier's literal knowledge of the Code.
