Abstract : The Bottom Topography Survey Subsystem (BOTOSS) is the sonar subsystem of the Bathymetric Survey System (BASS). Depth data generated by BOTOSS are transferred to the Navigation Subsystem (NAVSUBSYS), which uses these data along with ship's position information from Minisins, Loran C, and Satellite Navigation to generate on-board bottom charts. In addition, the BOTOSS and NAVSUBSYS data are stored on magnetic tape to be further processed on shore.
