Abstract : X-ray diffraction from graphite fiber/epoxy composite specimens containing fillers measures applied and residual stresses. Similarly, diffraction from filled epoxy painted on specimens measures applied stresses. Both methods indicate moisture content. Both methods measure the stress distribution in the adherends of adhesive bonds, and a modification could also apply to the stresses in the adhesive. (Author)
