Abstract : The optical refractive index structure function parameter, Cn(2), describes the effects of turbulence on optical propagation. Surface boundary layer turbulence models are used to calculate monthly mean values and standard deviations of Cn(2) in the North Atlantic Ocean. Cn(2) statistics are presented as isopleths of mean values and standard deviations for day, night, and diurnally averaged values. (Author)
