Abstract : The present study was designed to provide additional information about the metabolic consequences of moderate and severe blood loss in the conscious domestic pig. Included were measurements of arterial glucose, lactate, creatinine, urea, all major electrolytes, and selected plasma enzymes. Attention was directed to alterations that occur both during and subsequent to blood loss.
