Abstract : The cost behavior of the airframe industry is unique. Cost minimization models are specified that have potential for modeling this unique production situation. These models are firmly grounded in economic theory, and they stress the importance of learning and production rate as determinants of program costs. As an empirical application, one of the models is applied to the F102 airframe program. (Author)
