Abstract : This study develops a computer simulation model of the Alaskan theater airlift system. The model makes a number of assumptions concerning system composition and operation, but is largely based on conditions and operational concepts prevailing in the theater since 1978. In general, the model centralize the system around a home base and circulates C-130 aircraft through a network of five bases representing the major types of bases expected to be of concern in the theater. The model is written in SLAM, using extensive FORTRAN inserts, and is designed to allow considerable user flexibility and control. In particular, the user can precisely define the missions to be input and can preset almost all system parameters, thus permitting examination of many different scenarios and conditions. (Author)
