Abstract : Finite amplitude acoustic standing waves in a rectangular air-filled cavity with various wedge-shape boundary perturbations were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The experimental results show that geometrical perturbations alter the finite-amplitude behavior of the cavity and that the nature of these changes are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of the theory. However, quantitative agreement was not observed, possibly because the perturbation chosen did not satisfy all the assumptions of theory. (Author)
