Abstract : The nonlinear thermoelastic equations are examined considering large deformations and temperature-dependent material parameters. Emphasis is on high-speed sliding contacts, wherein high temperatures localize near the contact surface, contributing to significance there of coupling terms neglected in elementary theory. (Author)
