Abstract : This effort is part of the predictive response capability development to provide design criteria for space vehicles. For example, mechanical joints in structure have stress risers around the bolt holes due to the singularities from linear analysis. In this task the stress singularities at the free-edge and at the contact-edge of an interface in a laminated composite are studied. The composite is subjected to a uniform extension in the direction parallel to the plane of laminate layers.
