Abstract : A model has been developed which predicts the efficiency and low frequency stability of a turbofan augmentor. The model evaluates the stability characteristics of the flameholders at low inlet temperature with a model for two-phase fuel flames. The driving potential for low frequency instability is identified with excessive flameholder wake fuel-air ratio. The model is compared to engine experience, available literature and other models with favorable results. (Author)
