Abstract : The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) tested the fitting characteristics of men's safety boots carried in the Supply System on a representative sample of Navy women and concluded that more than 95% of military females can be fitted with footwear selected from sizes 4 to 10 in whole and half sizes, in widths extra narrow (XN), narrow (N), regular (R), wide (W), and extra wide (XW). The tariff will require sizes 2 and 3 in widths XN, N, R, and W to accommodate the remaining 'no fit' females of the population. The data also facilitated the development of a size guide for converting female shoe sizes to men's safety shoe sizes. The use of the size guide is recommended for fitting and requisitioning men's safety shoes for women, and the safety footwear for the military supply system is recommended for issue to military women.
