Abstract : Studies of cellulose crystallinity are reviewed. The total-profile analysis method has been applied to x-ray diffraction data for celluloses from linter and woodpulp sources. Good agreement is obtained with published structure factors and lattice parameters from fiber studies, if a distinct amorphous profile is included in our analysis. Correlations between cellulose and nitrocellulose properties and the measured cellulose crystallographic parameters are indicated.
