Abstract : Flaviviruses cause significant human morbidity and mortality, but as yet little is known about the replication of these viruses. Our studies have indicated that replication of West Nile virus (WNV) in genetically resistant murine cells is characterized by a reduced infectivity yield and production of progeny enriched in DI particles. A mutant of WNV isolated from a persistently infected resistant culture can efficiently replicate in resistant cells.
