Abstract : A model for the conduction of electrical impulses in a nerve axon is considered. In an earlier paper the author demonstrated that the model exhibits a threshold phenomenon. This corresponds to the biological fact that a minimum stimulus is required to trigger a nerve impulse. In this paper a more detailed description of the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the equations is given. It is proven that, in some sense, the solution eventually propagates with constant velocity.
