Abstract : The final version of Northrop's micro-optic gyro (MOG) will consist of thin-film devices integrated on a common substrate. We have previously demonstrated that it is possible to construct a resonant cavity from thin-film waveguides. The current effort is to integrate thin-film frequency shifters with these waveguide resonators. This section describes the operation of the MOG and presents a brief history of the program.
