Abstract : The excited-state properties of semiconductor electrodes play a crucial role in photoelectrochemistry. Luminescence offers a means for characterizing the electronic structure and excited-state decay routes of semiconductors employed in PECs and underscores their relationship to electrochemistry: PL can be perturbed and EL initiated by charge-transfer events occuring at the semiconductor-electrolyte interface.
