Abstract : The research performed under this program has focused on studying optical properties of non-spherical particles in the laboratory. It required the development of techniques for routinely generating and collecting artificial aerosols of known chemical composition, for performing light scattering measurements, and for interpreting light scattering data. Progress on each technique has been achieved, and the principal results for each of these three basic activities are discussed in this report.
