Abstract : This is the first semi-annual report of a project to develop a thermoelectrically cooled staring focal plane module. The approach is that of a backside-illuminated hybrid mosaic array coupled to a silicon CCD/MUX. The detector approach is based on a transparent substrate/heteroepitaxy technology, and the multiplexer incorporates background skimming, gain reduction, and frame transfer concepts.
