Abstract : The objective of this effort was to simulate delamination failures occurring on F-111 aircraft located at Cannon AFB, New Mexico. The approach used was to simulate the flightline environment at Cannon AFB using existing laboratory test facilities. Test procedures and results of the tests are discussed. Test results indicated excellent correlation between visible degradation observed in the laboratory specimens and transparencies removed from field service. A design modification to combat the delamination failures was tested and proved to be successful. Results of bird impact testing of the laboratory tested specimens is presented.
