Abstract : This thesis provides the specifications of a simulation model, based on a given functional design for a Local Area Network (LAN) system, which implements functions of the Stock Point Logistics Integrated Communication Environment (SPLICE). First, today's LAN technologies and workload characterization of the SPLICE system are discussed in general. Then, the components of the LAN system and the model assumptions are identified in terms of an open network of queues. Finally, an initial approach for model implementation in GPSS is provided.
