Abstract : This thesis describes the structures and training pipeline of the Electronics Technician rating in the Navy. Through an analysis of a cohort of 6,309 Electronics Technicians who enlisted between 1 Sept 1976, and 31 Dec 1978, this thesis demonstrates significant differences between personnel who enlisted in Nuclear Field, Advanced Electronics Field and other enlistment programs available during this time period. Through the use of discriminant analysis, three models for predicting potential enlistment success were developed from measures such as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude subtests, education, age, marital status, enlistment waivers, and months of participation in the Delayed Entry Program administered by the Navy Recruiting Command.
